Kevin turned 28 on the 28th yesterday! Because the FOCUS offices are on the move the entire HQ staff had the day off yesterday! Thank you FOCUS for your perfect timing.
As he said, the day consisted of all of his favorite things. Beginning with golf in the morning which was followed by mid-morning presents...
I asked the kids what we should get him. Mary Clare determined that he already has a soccer ball and basketball, so we should get him...
beer. "I think dad likes beer" is what she said. It's true, but the guy only has about 3 of them a month, so she must know it's a treat, not the norm.
He also got socks (lame, but needed) and tickets to the University of Denver conference championship lacrosse game tomorrow; lacrosse was his sport in high school.
After lunch we had cookie cake, per the birthday boy's request. I didn't order one in advance, so he got a Mother's Day cookie cake... we like to think of it as an Easter cake... pretty flowers... spring-ish... that'll work.
The kids had special "octodogs" for lunch, a Cotter kid favorite.
Double plate dinner with ribs. For the girl who is disgusted by meat with bones, making these was a real act of love.
Hey! Kevin is wearing the Strong Bad shirt he wore on the day he asked me out on our first date. We had a mutual love of Teen Girl Squad (written by Strong Bad) in college.
And the day was finished by watching the NFL draft... which continues tonight and tomorrow night. Really, they need three days to pick players? Why don't they take some tips from a playground kickball game and get it over with a little faster? I'm not annoyed...
